Motto – Think and Thank 
Arms – Quarterly – 1st and 4th , or, a saltire and chief gu., on a canton arg., a lion rampant az., for BRUCE; 2nd and 3rd arg., a chevron gu., between three chapeaux to the sinister az., or BRUDENELL. Crests – 1st a lion statant tail extended az., 2nd a sea-horse naiant ppr. Supporters – Two savages ppr. Wreathed round the lions and temples vert, each holding banner or the arms of Bruce.

Lord Cardigan (James Thomas Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan) commanded light cavalry during the Crimea war. 
Regiment was the 11th Hussars. 
He might have taken this plate to Crimea with him.
